Front Panel Operation

The functions of the front panel controls are described in the following sections.

Connecting inputs with outputs

The input and output buttons on the front panel correspond to the numbered input and output connectors on the rear panel. When you select and press an input or output button, the green LED indicator above the button lights. To select a different input or output, press a different button.

To connect an output with an input via the front panel:

1.Select the desired input by pressing the corresponding input button. The LED above the selected input lights.

2.Select the desired output(s) to connect to the input and press the corresponding output button(s). The LED(s) above the selected output(s) blink(s).

3.Press the Take button to confirm the connection(s).

To select a different input:

Repeat steps 1 through 3 above.

Preset configurations

Up to 12 (MSG0804) or 16 (MSG0808) different preset configurations can be stored in the switcher’s memory from the front panel (up to 32 can be stored via RS-232/ 422/485 remote control). To display currently available presets, press and release the Preset button. The LEDs for inputs and outputs with presets will light.

To store the current configuration to a preset:

1.Press and hold the Preset button for 2 seconds. When released, the LED will blink, indicating that the switcher is ready to store a preset.

2.Press the input or output button you want to use to designate as the preset button for that configuration. If you select a previously assigned button for a new preset, it will overwrite the old preset.

Be sure to document the preset configurations you create so they can be recalled and used as needed.

To recall a preset:

Press the Preset button, the LEDs above all buttons designated as presets will light. Select the input or output button for the preset you desire to recall that configuration. The LEDs will go out.

Each time you turn on the switcher, it will default to the last configuration.

Miscellaneous front panel functions

To blank the selected output:

1.Press the Blank button, the LEDs above all blanked outputs will light.

2.Select the output(s) to blank by pressing the output button(s).

3.Press the Take button to confirm your selection. The output(s) will be disconnected.

To unblank the selected output:

Repeat the steps under Connecting inputs with outputs, above.
