ValidatorTM Application Notes

10.Application Notes for Typical Field Use

10.1.New Job, New Cable Installations

1.A Layout using the Plan-Um software will be created conforming to the customers’ facility or residence and a job id created.

2.Cables will be chosen and run between agreed upon ports and a Comm. Panel or Patch Panel.

3.Check Cable Test Schedule against the Layout to make sure all ports are connected correctly.

4.The Job File from the Plan-Um software will be uploaded to the Validator-NT Main unit. The Job File can then be accessed through the Job Manager on the Main Menu Screen of the

Validator-NT.

5.The Cable Test Schedule can be sorted so that all CAT 5E cables are listed first or all CAT 5 etc. This groups the types of cables for quicker testing at the Comm. or Patch Panel.

6.Once all tests are done, upload the finished Cable Test Schedule to the laptop or PC and print this as an End of Job report showing all the cable runs and PASS/FAIL results. This should be attached to a copy of the customer layout for comparison and final checking prior to billing.

10.2.New Job, Previously Installed Cables

1.Create a layout using the Plan-Um software re-creating the customers’ cabling system using port and cable icons in Plan- Um.

2.Name the job and upload it to Validator-NT for testing

3.Print out the finished Cable Test Schedule as an End of Job report for the customer to see what was tested and results.
