2.3. Compact Flash Card Usage

The Validator-NT kit includes a high quality mass storage compact flash card. Approximately 6000 cable tests can be stored per 32 Megabytes of card space. Press Select to view a pie chart that displays free card space with numeric values for percentage and kilobytes available (See Figure 2.5).

Validator-NT requires compact flash cards that are intended for mass storage use and support both true IDE and PCMCIA interface modes of operation.

To remove the compact flash card while the unit is powered on, press Menu then CF Shutdown. The triangle at the top right corner of the screen changes from yellow to green. When it turns green, you can remove the flash card by gently pulling up and unlocking the ejector button and pushing it to eject the card.

To reinsert the card, place the contact side of the card in the slot and press gently to lock it in place. When the card is seated, gently pull up and press the ejector button into the locked position. A card must be in place in order to use the Validator-NT.

Warning! Removing the compact flash card with the power on without using the CF eject function may cause data loss.
