4.3.6Tagged VLAN
The GX/TM supports the IEEE 802.1Q tag VLAN packet tagging and
Tag control is based upon two types of settings: individual port settings and a global membership table that contains membership data for all the ports.
Each port can be configured for the following:
4.3.6.1Port Priority (PRI)
This (IEEE 802.1p based)
The PRI value is always assigned to all untagged packets. Tagged packets are assigned the PRI value when the “PVID” option is selected in the “Tagged Packet Use” section.
4.3.6.2Port VLAN ID (PVID)
This (IEEE 802.1Q based)
The PVID value is always assigned to untagged packets. Tagged packets are assigned the PVID value when the “PVID” option is selected in the “Tagged Packet Use” section.
4.3.6.3Tagged Packet Use
This is a global setting for the module.
This setting only is of value when a packet ingresses and is tagged. If a tagged packet ingress a port and “TVID” is selected, the tag membership is determined by the VLAN identifier (VID) of the frame. If a tagged packet ingress a port and “PVID”, is select the tag membership is determined by the PVID/PRI of the ingress port.
4.3.6.4Ingress Security
This is a global setting for the module.
Selecting the “Low” option allows any packet to ingress a port.
Selecting the “High” option allows only packets that are assigned a VLAN ID (VID) value of which this port is a member (according to the Membership Table) to ingress a port.
4.3.6.5Egress Policy
Selecting the “untag” option defines how a tagged or untagged packet is processed. A tagged packet will have the top tag removed and an untagged packet will be passed unmodified.
Selecting the “tag” option will tag an untagged packet with the PVID and PRI of the ingress port.
A tagged packet will egress without change if PVID is selected or substituted to tag if TVID is selected.
Tagged VLAN is accessed by selecting option 4 from the Port configuration screen. The Tag VLAN Control screen will be displayed.
