3.2.2.5SW5 - UTP 10/100 Auto/Manual Crossover “AX/MANX”
The GX/TM features 10/100 Auto Crossover, which allows it to connect to a switch or a workstation with either straight-through or Crossover UTP cables.
The 10/100 Auto Crossover feature is only available when the UTP port is operating in Auto-Negotiation mode. The UTP port operates in Auto-Negotiation mode when the “AN/Man” DIP-switch is in the Auto- Negotiate “AN” position, or when the “1000/10-100” DIP-switch is in the Gigabit “1000” position.
The 10/100 Auto Crossover feature is not available when the UTP port is operating in Manual mode. The UTP port operates in Manual mode when the “AN/Man” DIP-switch is in the “Man” manual position and the “1000/10-100” DIP-switch is in the Fast Ethernet “10-100” position.
When this DIP-switch is set to Auto Crossover “AX” (factory default), the 10/100 UTP Auto Crossover feature is enabled. When it is set to Manual Crossover “MANX”, the UTP Manual Crossover DIP-switch is enabled to allow the user to manually set either a Crossover or Straight-through connection.
3.2.2.6SW6 - UTP Manual Crossover “=/X”
When the board-mounted UTP Auto/Manual Crossover DIP-switch is set to “MANX”, the UTP Manual Crossover Switch is enabled. Set this DIP-switch to Straight-Through “=” (factory setting) when connecting the UTP port to a workstation, or set it to Crossover “X” when connecting to a hub or switch. Only use this setting in 10/100Mbps Manual negotiation mode or when Auto/Manual Crossover is set to “MANX”.
3.2.2.7SW7, SW8 - Reserved
These DIP-switches are for factory use only.
NOTE: DIP-switches marked Reserved must be kept in the Left/Down (factory default) position.
