Turning the UPS On

To turn the UPS on:

1.Plug the UPS power cord into a power outlet.

The bar graph indicators illuminate, indicating the UPS is in Standby mode.

2.Press and hold the button until you hear the UPS beep (approximately two seconds).

The alarm beeps once and all front panel indicators flash briefly. The

button and the μilluminate. Conditions permitting, the UPS

runs a battery test and the bar graph indicators cycle through. The load segment indicators (1 and 2 ) show that power is available to the output receptacles.

The bar graph indicators display the percentage of load being applied to the UPS. The UPS is now in Normal mode and supplying power to your equipment.

To change the factory-set defaults, see “Customizing the UPS with the UPS Configuration Tool ” on page 43.

3.If the indicator illuminates, see Table 17 on page 58.

NOTE The batteries charge to 90% capacity in approximately 3 hours. However, it is recommended that the batteries charge for 24 hours after installation or long-term storage.

NOTE If more than two EBMs are installed, an external battery charger is recommended for faster recharge times.
