CONFIGURATION

Similarly, other interconnect timing parameters may need upward adjustment. In addition to the dial tone detect duration, the following parameters may require changes: pulse digit delay base, pulse digit delay increment, DTMF digit delay, DTMF digit detect duration, and line dropping duration. The adjustment needed can be calculated as follows (defaults are included in Table 6).

Operation with System Manager

If the Site Controller computer is connected to a System Manager, the default configuration contained in its Personality PROMs is not as critical, since it can be re- configured with the System Manager. However, it must still specify the ELI option, and should reflect the installed telephone interconnect hardware and the desired operational characteristics well enough to run the interconnect system in an emergency. (Whenever the Site Controller computer loses power or is reset, the active configuration of the Site Controller computer’s database is (and will operate by) the default configuration until an update of the latest database can be obtained from the System Manager.)

The following user-configurable database parameters apply to local telephone interconnect systems in general. They have been grouped by function, rather than System Manager menu selection. The System Manager menu selection and panel references are given, following each parameter and its description, to help you locate the data field for the parameter. Not all parameters are used for the ELI system. Notes specifically for the ELI system are shown where they apply.

General Limits for Site

Interconnect - This 24-channel row of parameters defines (for the site) if a channel is equipped for telephone interconnect calls. Default is no (N) for all channels. Enter Y for yes, or leave N for no. Note that GTI units are usually placed on the highest available channel numbers.

1Default Value: The Default Value is the value used in the Personality if no specific value is specified.

2Adjusted Default Value: The Adjusted Default Value equals 1.6 times the Default Value. (Example: for a Default Value of 1000 ms, the Adjusted Default Value equals 1.6 times the Default Value of 1000 ms, or 1600 ms.)

3Recommended Value: The Recommended Value is the value of the parameter that should be used with release 7 and later Application Software. The recommendations are conservative and are intended to minimize any customer impact by providing timing margins equivalent with past releases. You can try existing personalities with the Release 7 upgrade; there may be sufficient timing margin to accommodate the more accurate Release 7 timings. However, be aware of the timing sequences and be prepared to update the personality if performance problems are encountered.

4Current Value: The Current Value is the value of the parameter currently being used satisfactorily with pre-release 7 Application Software.
