Enabling EAP-MD5/LEAP Authentication via the InterCon-NetTool

Proceed as follows:

1.Start the InterCon-NetTool.

2.Double-click the TPG60 in the print server list. The Properties dialog appears.

3.Select Configuration – Protection from the navigation bar.

4.Select the Authentication tab.

5.Select EAP-MD5/LEAP from the Authentication list.

6.Enter the user name into the User name box.

7.Enter the password into the Password box.

8.Click OK to confirm.

ªThe settings are saved.

7.5How Does the TPG60 Authenticate Itself in the network via EAP-TLS?

The IEEE 802.1x standard provides methods for authentication and authorization in networks. Within the scope of the IEEE 802.1x standard, the TPG60 supports the authentication protocol EAP-TLS.

You can verify the identity of the TPG60 using the authentication method EAP-TLS.

EAP-TLS offers a highly cryptographic authentication of the client in the network. Both the client and the server exchange cryptographic certificates to verify their identities. The network components use a RADIUS server for authentication purposes. As for the security protocol EAP-TLS, the RADIUS server is integrated into a PKI (Public Key Infrastructure).

The EAP-TLS method works similar to a SSL connection where the browser uses a certificate to authenticate itself to a server (or the server to a browser). In this process, a method is applied that both sides can handle.

EAP-TLS describes a certificate-based authentication method via a RADIUS server. For this purpose, certificates are exchanged between the TPG60 and the RADIUS server.
