Remove unrelated software and drivers

The presence of drivers for other FireWire devices and other audio devices, even though they are not actively connected, may be a cause of system trouble. Consider stripping down your computer to be solely music-oriented. A Computer that has seen many generations of audio interface may need to have its OS cleanly reinstalled to work reliably.

Optimize for speed to reduce audio problems

•Did you successfully install the IF-FW/DM MKII into your mixer?

•Is the FireWire connection on your computer built in, i.e. part of the motherboard, or is it on an optional PCI or PCMCIA card?

•Are there any other FireWire devices attached?

•What DAW software are you using?
