For physical interfaces, the PPA number corresponds to the physical port number on the module. For logical or virtual interfaces, the number corresponds to a logical port or interface and is dependent on the interface module type. If a device does not support PPAs, the value
Slot Name
The physical interface module is the name that the Passport 4460 uses to identify a module interface. The base module is always base, and expansion modules are named exp1 and exp2.The Serial Daughter Boards (SDBs) are considered expansions to the base module itself, and are referred to as Port 2 and Port 3 of the base module.
Channel Number
The channel number along with the slot and PPA number, uniquely identifies an interface within a device type. However, the channel number itself is not unique across all device types.
To display the channel number of an interface, along with additional interface information, use the following CLI command:
