Troubleshooting your system
Safety
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.
Troubleshooting Storage Array Startup Failure
NOTE: If you need to replace a RAID controller, always hot plug the replacement controller when the array is powered on. All new hard drives should be hot plugged to the array. Do not use drives or RAID controller from another (foreign) array.
If your system halts during startup, check if:
•The array emits a series of beeps.
•The array fault LEDs are lit.
•There is a constant scraping or grinding sound when you access the physical disk. For assistance, contact Dell Support.
