Coaxial cable:
Cable used to connect the LNC to the satellite receiver, used to transmit the signal received as well as to provide power to the LNC.
LNB/LNC (Low Noise Block Converter): Receiving unit located at the focus of the parabolic dish antenna, converts the frequency range of the satellite to the intermediate frequency of the digital receiver.
LOF:
Local oscillator frequency; expressed in terms of MHz or GHz; varies depending on the LNC and the frequency range received. Receiving frequency of the digital receiver = Broadcast frequency of the satellite - LOF
Modulation at 22 KHz:
Apart from 14/28 Volt switching, this also serves to switch between 2 LNCs. In the Universal LNC it serves to switch to the High Band
Modulator:
Switch in the satellite receiver or the video recorder, used to connect the television set via antenna cable
Parabolic dish antenna:
Dish antenna made of aluminium or coated synthetics, has a parabolic shape to focus and concentrate the electromagnetic waves broadcast by the satellite in a focal point Polarisation plane:
To improve utilization of the available frequency range, satelli- tes broadcast neighbouring programmes using opposite pola- risation (horizontal and vertical or

The signals received and converted by the LNC cannot be processed by the television set. The signals are processed by the satellite receiver in such a way that its outputs provide audio and video signals (AV) which can be interpreted by the television set.
SCART:
Type of connector used on television sets, video recorders, satellite receivers and other home electronics components to transmit audio and video signals (AV).
Software Update:
Digital television is a new medium that provides improved sound and picture quality as well as the facility to provide interactive services.
