Chapter 3: System Interface

NIC1

lNIC1: Indicates network activity on LAN1 when flashing.

lHDD: Indicates IDE channel activity. On the SuperServer 6012L-6, this LED indicates CD-ROM drive activity when flashing.

lPower: Indicates power is being supplied to the system's power supply units. This LED should normally be illuminated when the system is operating.

3-4 SCSI Drive Carrier LEDs

Each SCSI drive carrier has two LEDs.

lGreen: When illuminated, the green LED on the front of a SCSI drive carrier indicates drive activity. A connection to the SCSI SCA backplane enables this LED to blink on and off when that particular drive is being accessed.

lRed: A SAF-TE compliant backplane (standard on the 6012L-6) acti- vates the red LED, which indicates a drive failure. If one of the SCSI drives fail, you should be notified by your system management software. Please refer to Chapter 6 for instructions on replacing failed SCSI drives.
