5 - messaging

text messages are easy, quick and convenient

When a phone call is inappropriate, or you only want to convey a short and simple message, you can write a text message:

1Press Menu. Messages will be highlighted. Press Select.

2Select New SMS. Your phone is preset to use T9 predictive text input. To change case and swap between predictive, standard and numerical text modes press # repeatedly while you are writing the message.

Predictive text input T9 means that instead of pressing a key a number of times to arrive at a letter, you only press it once. Your phone then looks at the combination of letters entered, and predicts what your word is. For example, to write the word orange, you would press 6, 7, 2, 6, 4 and 3 once each.

Occasionally, your dictionary will not recognise a word, and you will need to spell it using standard text input.

Standard text input allows you to enter a word by pressing a key a number of times to get the right letter. So, to write the letter O, press 6 three times, and to get a Q press 7 twice.

To spell a word using standard text input, press Spell. Press Save when the correct word is displayed.

3To send your text message when you have finished writing it, press Options. Send is highlighted. Press Select.

4Enter the number of the recipient, or

press to pick a contact from your phonebook. Alternatively, press Group to send it to a group of contacts.

5Press OK.

Note: The cost to send a text message depends on your Service Plan and you are charged for each person the message is sent to. If you are abroad, you will be charged an additional fee by the network you are using.

While writing a message, you can access a number of text message options by pressing Options.

Format the text in your message.
