This section explains only the operations used when you play a sound source in the sub-room.

See pages 20 to 26 for the main room operations.

Before performing sub-room operations, it is recommended to finish the basic settings on pages 33 to 40.

IMPORTANT:

Check to see if the following before or while using the buttons and controls.

For the sub-room operations:

The SUB ROOM ON/OFF lamp on the unit is lit.

When using the unit:

– “SUB ROOM” is shown in the main display.

– Press DOOR DOWN to use the buttons inside the

front door.

 

To close the front door, press DOOR UP.

 

When using the remote control:

 

When operating the receiver using the remote control, the display on the unit always shows the main room source information though you are operating it for the sub-room source.

Set the MAIN ROOM/SUB ROOM (LEARN/TRANSMIT) selector to “SUB ROOM.”

Check the indication shown on the remote’s display when you press a button—this indicates the remote control operation mode together with multi-room operation mode (either MAIN ROOM or SUB ROOM) for a while (10 or 5 seconds).

Turning the Power On and Off (Standby)

and Selecting the Sub-Room Operations

On the unit:

1. Press 2. Press SUB ROOM ON/OFF so that (STANDBY/ON).

The STANDBY lamp goes off, and the MAIN ROOM ON/OFF lamp lights up.

The front door moves down so that the source selecting buttons appear.

• The unit is now activated only for the main room operations.

To use the sub-room TV (connected to the SUB ROOM MONITOR OUT jack)

Turn on the TV and select the correct input for this receiver manually.

For those who connect the sub-room front speakers to the SUB ROOM PREOUT jacks using another amplifier (see page 17).

You have to determine how to adjust the volume level through the sub-room front speakers. (See “Preparing for the Sub-Room Operations—SUB ROOM” on page 40 for more details.)

To use the sub-room front speakers

1Turn on the other amplifier connected to the SUB ROOM PREOUT jacks.

2Adjust the volume level through sub-room front speakers either on the other amplifier or on this receiver (depending on the SUB PREOUT setting on the SUB ROOM submenu).

The currently selected speakers 1 and/or 2 indicator(s) light(s) up on the display.

2. Press SUB ROOM ON/OFF so that

When connecting the sub-room front

speakers to the FRONT 2/SUB ROOM SPEAKERS terminals, see also “Preparing for the Sub-RoomOperations—SUB ROOM” on page 40, and “Activating the Sub-Room Front Speakers” on page 30.

3. Press SUB ROOM CONTROL (inside the front door) so that “SUB ROOM” and the previously selected sub- room source name appear on the display.
