6. Startup

Insert the centering key through the corre- sponding openings (44.1) in the condenser holder.

Turn the centering screws until the dark ring (phase ring in the objective) is congruent with the slightly narrower bright ring (light ring in condenser) (43 c).

Repeat the process for all other phase con- trast objectives.

Remove the centering keys after the centering procedure.

Note:

During change of objectives the centering keys must not remain in the openings of the condenser.
