Squeeze the
To adjust belt tension:
1.Loosen the two bolts that hold the motor/pul- ley assembly to the planer.
2.Insert a wooden lever of suitable strength and pry the motor up to increase belt ten- sion. See Figure 28.
3.Maintain lever position and check belt ten- sion.
4.Tighten the bolts and check belt tension again. Repeat steps
5.Ensure that the pulleys are still in alignment.
Gearbox
The gearbox is located just behind the hand- wheel on the right side of the planer. The gearbox transfers power from the
TO INSPECT THE GEARBOX:
1.Loosen the socket head cap screw on the gearbox cover. Gently pull the cover off the roll pins that hold it in place.
2.Check the bolts holding the sprockets in place. Inspect the drive chains to ensure that the cotter pins are in place. Replace the pins if necessary. See Figure 29.
Loosen these bolts before adjusting belt tension.

WARNING
DO NOT make adjustments while the planer is running. Ensure that the switch is off, power is disconnected and moving parts have stopped before making adjustments. Failure to comply could result in serious injury.
