3 Using Insight Control for vCenter
This chapter describes the processes for accessing and using the software.
Accessing Insight Control for vCenter
After completing the installation and configuration procedures, you can access Insight Control for vCenter using the vSphere Client:
1.Start the vSphere Client.
2.When prompted, enter the IP address/host name, user name, and password to sign in to the vCenter Server.
3.Do one of the following:
•To access the Server Module for vCenter, select a cluster or an HP ProLiant or BladeSystem server/host in the inventory tree.
•To access the Storage Module for vCenter, select a cluster, host, VM, or datastore in the inventory tree.

The health status information appears on the HP Insight Software tab after Insight Control for vCenter completes the first polling cycle. This may take a few moments, depending on the polling cycle.
The default polling cycle is 15 minutes for iLO and 5 minutes for HP CIM providers and HP SNMP agents. For information about changing the polling cycle, see “Configuring the Server Module for vCenter” (page 7).
NOTE: When you access the HP Insight Software tab in the vSphere Client, you might see security warnings related to the website security certificate. To prevent these warnings from appearing in the future, click View Certificate, and then follow the

HP Management pane overview
The HP Management pane on the HP Insight Software tab includes an Overview page, Server Management links for the Server Module for vCenter, and Storage Management links for the Storage Module for vCenter. See Figure 5 (page 21).
