	DO NOT attempt any maintenance, adjustments or service
	with engine and blade running. STOP engine and blade.
	Remove starter insert. Disconnect spark plug wire and
	secure away from spark plug. Engine and components are
	HOT. Avoid serious burns, allow sufficient time for all com-
	ponents to cool.
	The wheel drive control lever (A, Figure 18) should
	engage the transmission when the lever is squeezed			Figure 19: Adjusting the drive cable

	transmission when the lever is released.			Caution: Incorrect adjustment can cause premature

If the transmission does not engage or disengage,
adjustment may be performed as follows:				ive
•	If the transmission does not engage, increase
	cable tension by loosening the jam nut (C, Figu e
	19) and rotating the turnbuckle (A) counter-clock-
	wise one-half turn to move the ferrules (B) out from
	the turnbuckle. Tighten the jam nut against the
•	turnbuckle. Check and repeat as n d		d.	ase

drive cable tension* by loosening the jam nut and rotating the turnbuckle one-half turn clockwise to move the ferrules in toward the turnbuckle. Tighten the jam nut against the turnbuckle. Check and repeat as needed.

NOTE: Some models do not feature a jam nut.
