Maintenance

8.The back tips of the blades should measure 3 1/4 inches (8.3 cm). Fine tune rear adjusters as required.

9.Re-measure until all four sides are the correct height. Tighten all the nuts on the deck lift arm assemblies.

10.Lower the discharge deflector.

Overall Height Adjustment

1.Park the machine on a level surface and disengage the blade control switch.

2.Stop engine, wait for all moving parts to stop, and remove key. Engage parking brake.

3.Check the air pressure in the drive tires. If needed, adjust to the recommended inflation; refer to Checking the Tire Pressure in Drive System Maintenance section.

4.Set the height of cut to the 3 inch (7.6 cm) position.

5.Carefully rotate the blades front to rear. Measure from the tip of the front blade to the level surface. The blades should measure 3 inches (7.6 cm).

6.If it does not measure correctly, locate the height-of-cut adjustment rod on the right side of the machine (see Figure 24).

Deck Lift Handle Force

Tighten or loosen the bolt to adjust the amount of force it takes to move the deck lift handle.

Turning the bolt clockwise transfers some of the deck weight from the lift handle to the helper spring (see Figure 25). This makes the deck easier to lift; however, it may allow the deck to float or become bouncy which may cause an uneven cut.

8.Tighten jam nuts.

Pump Drive Belt Tension

Self-tensioning - No adjustment necessary.

Mower Deck Drive Belt Tension

Self-tensioning - No adjustment necessary.

Park Brake Adjustment

If the parking brake does not hold securely, an adjustment is required.

1.Park the machine on a level surface.

2.Shut off engine and wait for all moving parts to stop.

3.When the park brake is released, the brake bars should lift off the tires and the hand lever should travel forward to the end of the slot in the control
