8.1 Tractor Pre-Operation Inspection/Service
Refer to the tractor operator’s manual to ensure a complete
¾Tire condition/air pressure
¾Wheel lug bolts
¾Steering linkage
¾PTO shield
¾SMV sign is clean and visible
¾Tractor’s lights are clean and functional
¾Tractor Seat belt is in good condition
¾Tractor cab or ROPS is in good condition
¾ROPS is in the raised position
¾No tractor oil leaks
¾Radiator free of debris
¾Engine oil level and condition
¾Engine coolant level and condition
¾Power brake fluid level
¾Power steering fluid level
¾Fuel condition and level
¾Sufficient lubrication at all lube points
¾Air filter condition
8.2Mower Pre-Operation Inspection/Service
Before each mower use, a complete inspection and service is required to ensure the mower is in a good and safe working condition. Damaged and/or broken parts should be repaired and/or replaced immediately. To ensure the mower is ready for operation, conduct the following.
DANGER! All Safety Shields, Guards and Safety devices including (but not limited to) - the Deflectors, Chain Guards, Steel Guards, Gearbox Shields, PTO integral shields, and the Retractable Door Shields should be used and maintained in good working condition. All safety devices should be inspected carefully at least daily for missing or broken components. Missing, broken, or worn items must be replaced at once to reduce the possibility of injury or death from thrown objects, entanglement, or blade contact.
DANGER! Replace bent or broken blades with new blades. NEVER ATTEMPT TO STRAIGHTEN OR WELD ON BLADES SINCE THIS WILL LIKELY CRACK OR OTHERWISE DAMAGE THE BLADE
WITH SUBSEQUENT FAILURE AND POSSIBLE SERIOUS INJURY FROM THROWN BLADES.
