Selecting a Site
Observe the following requirements when choosing a site for the switch.
If you plan to install the switch in an equipment rack, check to be sure the rack is safely secured and will not tip over. Devices in a rack should be installed starting at the bottom, with the heavier devices near the bottom of the rack.
If you are installing the switch on a table, be sure the table is level and secure.
The power outlet for the switch should be located near the unit and be easily accessible.
The site should provide easy access to the ports on the front of the switch. This will make it easy for you to connect and disconnect cables, as well as view the switch’s LEDs.
To allow proper cooling of the switch, air flow around the unit and through its vents on the side and rear should be unrestricted.
Do not place objects on top of the switch.
Do not expose the switch to moisture or water.
