5.7.4.1 Synchronisation Type (for software version V1.3 and above)

With these later versions of software, there are three possible options depending upon which interface is fitted, whether Master or Slave mode is selected, and the rate selected.

Option 1 -

C > Ext Byte Clk

This option is shown when the ‘External Byte timing ON’ is selected. The Master unit accepts Byte timing from external timing input (S EXT) and uses this to synchronise the link with its remote Slave unit.

Option 2 -

C > Ext Bit Clk

This option is shown when the ‘External bit timing ON’ is selected. The Master unit accepts bit timing from external timing input (SEXT) and uses this to synchronise the link with its remote Slave unit.

Option 3 -

C > Internal Clk

This option is shown when the ‘External bit timing OFF’ is selected. The Master unit is the source of synchronous timing to its remote Slave unit and attached DTE’s at both ends of the link.

The following options are shown, when the configurations below are selected :

1.X.21 Interface, Master mode, at ALL rates except 64kbps + Byte timing (64k BT).

Note : If the Slave mode is selected, the options will remain as per the pre-V1.3 software as described in section 5.7.4.
