About this chapter
Read this chapter attentively. It contains important inform ation to prevent personal injury while inst alling and using a
MSWU-81E projector. Furthermore, it includes several ca utions to prevent damage to the MSWU-81E projector. Ensure that
you understand and follow all safety guide lines, safety instructions and war nings mentioned in this chapter before instal ling
your MSWU-81E projector. After this chapter, additional “warnings ” and “cautions” are given depending on the instal lation
procedure. Read and follow these “warnings” and “cautions ” as well.

1.1 General considerations

When referring in this document to the term “IMPRE SS SERIES” means that the content is applicable for follow ing Barco
products:

General safety instructions
• Before operating this equipment please read this ma nual thoroughly and retain it for future reference.
• Installation and preliminary adjus tments should be performed by qualifi ed Barco personnel or by authorized Barco ser vice
dealers.
• All warnings on the projector and in the d ocumentation manuals should be adhered to.
• All instructions for operating and u se of this equipment must be followed precisely.
• All local installation codes should be ad hered to.
Notice on safety
This equipment is built in accordance with the requi rements of the international safety standards IE C60950-1,
EN60950-1, UL60950-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No.60950-1, which are the safety standards of information techno logy
equipment including electrica l business equipment. These safety sta ndards impose important requireme nts on the use of
safety critical components, materials and i nsulation, in order to protect the user or operator aga inst risk of electric shock and
energy hazard and having access to live parts. Safet y standards also impose limits to the internal a nd external temperature
rises, radiation levels, mechanical stabil ity and strength, enclosure construct ion and protection against the risk of fire.
Simulated single fault condition testing ens ures the safety of the equipment to the user even whe n the equipment’s normal
operation fails.
