White balance : In the p rojector,we w ill set the contrast for each color until we get a 100% light output
picture when projecting a 100% white image (image A)
Black balance : In the project or,we will s et the brightness for each color until we get a 0% light output
picture when projecting a 100% black image (image B).
Thechangeover from min to max is indicated by the apparition of bright spots also called
“digital noise”
Anal ternative to a full screen White/black pattern is the standard gray scale pattern, the
white bar will be used for white balance and the black bar for black balance.

Black balance
1. Select a window and click on Adjust (a). (image 8-27)
The Input dialog box opens (b).
2. Click on Input balance (c).
A question dialog box is displayed (d). Thisbox announces that special lookup tabl es are needed while
adjusting inputbalance. Click Yes to load these tables. A second questio nwi ndow opens (f) to ask if
the 2 bit test pattern must be switched on.
3. If the pattern must be switched on, click Yes (g).
If no pattern must be switched on, click No.
When yes or no is clicked, the input balance adjustment window opens (h) .
4. Adjust the red black level on a minimal value
5. Select Black balance blue and adjust the blue black level on a minimal value.
Note: This minimal value is not necessary , provided that the 2 other colors are not i nfluencing too
much the color to be adjusted, in fact the aim is to minimize the effect o f the two other colors
since there is a risk of reaching too soon the 50% transition due to the contribution of these two
other colors signals.
