Conﬁguring Your ELS100-16TX

The two Management Information Base (MIB) variables for conﬁguring multicast storm protection are:

•kxifTxStormCnt – speciﬁes the maximum number of multicasts that can be broadcast within the given time.

•kxiTxStormTime – speciﬁes the period of time that the maximum number of multicasts can be broadcasted.

3.14 MODIFYING MIB VARIABLES

Speciﬁc instructions for controlling ELS100-16TX operations, modifying parameters, and so on, depend on the NMS you are using. This manual provides instructions for using LCM commands. However, LCM commands do not exist for all conﬁguration options. You may need to modify your conﬁguration using an NMS.

This section provides several common MIB variables you may want to change. Refer to the ELS100-16TX Release Notes for a complete listing and description of MIB variables.

Each variable is ﬁrst described in words, and is then identiﬁed in MIB form, for example, kxadminGetPass - {kxadmin 3}. The Display String line shows the range of values that can be used for the given parameter. In each case, the DisplayString is a string of ASCII characters.

3.15 SYSTEM CONTACT

The system contact parameter identiﬁes the contact person who is responsible for operating the ELS100-16TX. Typically, this parameter includes the person’s name, company or division name, and telephone number.
