POWER RATINGS
The power ratings for an individual
engine model are initiallydeveloped by
startingwith SAE (Society ofAutomo-
tive Engineers) code J1940 (Small
Engine Power & Torque Rating Proce-
dure) (Revision 2002-05). Givenboth
the wide array ofproducts on which our
engines are placed, and the varietyof
environmental issuesapplicable to
operating the equipment, itmay be that
the engine you have purchasedwill not
develop the rated horsepower when
used in a piece of power equipment
(actual "on-site" power). This difference
isdue to a variety of factors including,
but not limitedto, the following: differ-
ences in altitude, temperature, baro-
metric pressure, humidity, fuel, engine
lubrication, maximum governed engine
speed, individual engine to engine
variability,design ofthe particular piece
of power equipment, the manner in
which the engine is operated, engine
run-in to reduce frictionand clean outof
combustion chambers, adjustmentsto
the valves and carburetor, and other
factors. The power ratings may also be
adjusted based on comparisons to
other similar engines utilized in similar
applications, and willtherefore not
necessarily match thevalues derived
usingthe foregoing codes.

SNOW THROWER
AUGER DRIVE BELT
Adjust the auger drive belt after the first
2 to 4hours of use, again about mid-
season and twice each season theraaf-
tar (See to "Belt Adjustment" inthe
Service and Adjustment section).
CHAIN LUBRICATION
EVERY 25 HOURS
1. Positionspeed selectorlever infirst
(1) forward gear.
2. Standthe snow blower up on the
auger housing end.
NOTE: When the crank case if
filled with oil, do not leave the
snow blower standing up on the
auger housing foran extended
period of time.
3, Remove the bottompanel.
4. Lubricatethe chains witha chain
type lubricant.
5. Forstorage, wipe the hexshaft and
sprockets with 5W30 motor oil.
NOTE: Clean all excess grease or
oll found on the rubber friction
wheel or the disc drive plate.
CAUTION: Donot allow grease or
oil to contact the rubber friction
wheel or the disc drive plate.
6. Installthe bottom panel.

AUGER GEAR BOX
The auger gear box is lubricated at the
factory and shouldnot require addition-
al lubrication. If for some reason the
lubdcantshould leak out, have auger
gear case checked by a competent re-
pairmen.
