Removing and Installing Components

This section provides detailed information on how to remove or install the components from your computer.

Recommended Tools

The procedures in this document may require the following tools:

•Small flat-blade screwdriver

•#0 Phillips screwdriver

•#1 Phillips screwdriver

•Small plastic scribe

Removing the Base Cover

1.Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer.

2.Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:

a.Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the computer [1].

b.Pry the base cover along the edges to loosen it [2].

3.Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:

a.Lift the base cover partially at a 45–degree angle [1].

b.Remove the base cover from the computer [2].
