Replacing the I/O Daughter Card

Removing the I/O Daughter Card

Before working inside your computer, read the safety information that shipped with your computer. For additional safety best practices information, see the Regulatory Compliance Homepage at: www.dell.com/regulatory_compliance.

1.Follow the procedures in Before Working on Your Computer.

2.Close the display and turn the computer over.

3.Remove the bottom of the base assembly (see Removing the Bottom of the Base Assembly).

4.Remove the (see Removing the Hinge Covers).

5.Remove the palm rest assembly (see Removing the Palm Rest Assembly).

6.Remove the system board (see Removing the System Board Assembly).

7.Remove the modem (see Removing the Modem).

8.Remove the two M2 x 3-mm screws from the I/O daughter card.

9.Remove the I/O daughter card.

Replacing the I/O Daughter Card

Before you begin the following procedure, follow the safety instructions that shipped with your computer.

1.Place the I/O daughter card in the base assembly.

2.Replace the two M2 x 3-mm screws to secure the I/O daughter card to the base assembly.

3.Replace the modem (see Replacing the Modem).

4.Replace the system board (see Replacing the System Board Assembly)).
