Replacing the Hinge Cover

1Insert the left edge of the cover into place.

2Press from left to right until the cover snaps into place.

3Close the display and turn the computer upside down.

4Replace the two screws in the battery bay.

5Replace the battery (see "Replacing the Battery" on page 41).

Keyboard

CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide.

NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on the back of the computer).

NOTICE: To avoid damaging the system board, you must remove the main battery before you begin working inside the computer.

Removing the Keyboard

1Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page 109.

2Remove the hinge cover. See "Hinge Cover" on page 125.

NOTICE: The keycaps on the keyboard are fragile, easily dislodged, and time-consuming to replace. Be careful when removing and handling the keyboard.

3Lift the keyboard and hold it up and slightly forward to allow access to the keyboard connector.

4Release the lever on the system board connector to disconnect the keyboard cable from the system board.
