Action

CAUTION: Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the system cover and access any of the components inside the system. Before performing any procedure, see your Product Information Guide for complete information about safety precautions, working inside the computer and protecting against electrostatic discharge.

1Run the appropriate online diagnostic test. See "Using Dell PowerEdge Diagnostics" on page 85.

2Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.

3Open the system. See "Opening and Closing the System" on page 38.

4Ensure that the riser board and expansion card are firmly seated in their connectors. See "Installing an Expansion Card" on page 44 and "Expansion-Card Riser" on page 58.

5Close the system. See "Opening and Closing the System" on page 38.

6Reconnect the system to the electrical outlet, and turn on the system and attached peripherals. If the problem persists, go to the next step.

7Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.

8Open the system. See "Opening and Closing the System" on page 38.

9Remove the expansion card.

10Close the system. See "Opening and Closing the System" on page 38.

11Reconnect the system to the electrical outlet, and turn on the system and attached peripherals.

12Run the appropriate online diagnostic test.

If the tests fail, see "Getting Help" on page 95.

13Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.

14Open the system. See "Opening and Closing the System" on page 38.

15Reinstall the expansion card.

16Close the system. See "Opening and Closing the System" on page 38.

17Run the appropriate diagnostic test.
