HEARTH DIMENSIONS

Although not mandatory, a hearth extension is suggested for aesthetic purposes. The appliance may be raised on a wood or non-combustible platform supporting its entire width and depth and extending in front of the appliance as long as the louvers are not obstructed.

NOTE: In cold climates, when installing the appliance against a non-insulated exterior wall, outer wall must be fully insulated in accordance with local building code.

FRAMING DIMENSIONS

Built-in installations require a framed-in enclosure constructed of 2 x 4 or heavier lumber and sized in accordance with Figure 5. This allows the unit to slide into the opening and be nailed to the stud space at the sides and top nailing flanges. These flanges accept 5/8” drywall or plywood board to finish the unit flush to the face. Optional trim accessories are available that will extend ½” over rough edge of the wall opening (see Accessories, page 21).

IMPORTANT: If installing a perimeter trim kit, you must install shoulder screws before inserting firebox into opening. See instructions included with the trim kit. If installing a mantel above the firebox, you must follow clearance instructions (see Installation Clearances, page 3).
