This reminder is provided to call yo ur attention to ar ticles 810 and 820 of t he 2002 Nation al Electrical C ode. Refer to art icle 810, in particu lar 810-1 and 810-15,
for required grou nding of the metal structure of the di sh antenna. Refe r also to the 810-2 whic h, by reference to ar ticle 820, requ ires that the sate llite dish coax ial
cable shield be connected to the g rounding system of t he building as cl ose to the point of c able entry as pr actical.

Note to Satellite Dish Installer

CAUTION: Avoid moisture to reduce the risk of fir e or electric shock. e DIR ECTV Receiver s hould not be used near
water (for example, kitchen si nk, bathtub, pool, damp b asement). Also, never spill l iquid on the receiver, and do not plac e
vases or other vessels c ontaining liquid on top of it.
Ensure proper ventilation — the vent slots on th e DIRECTV Rec eiver must be left uncovere d to allow proper airflow to
the unit. Blocking t he airflow to the unit cou ld impair performa nce or damage your rec eiver and other components.
Do not stack electronic components or other objec ts on top of the DIRECT V Receiver. Also, do not st ack the receiver on
top of a “hot component” such as an aud io power amplifier.
Protect your components from power surges by con necting all the c omponents before plugging a ny power cords into the
wall outlet. Use of a surge pr otector is also recomme nded.
Don’t overload power outlets or extension cords, which c an result in the risk of fi re or shock. It’s also importa nt to use
only the type of power sour ce indicated on the mark ing label or in thi s manual.

To prevent electrical shock, this appar atus shall be conne cted to a main socket out let with a protective ea rthing and ful ly inserted.
Avoid audio hum or interference by inserting a ll cable plugs firmly i nto their jacks. Al so, place Audio/Video ( A/V) cables to t he sides of the TV back pa nel rather than
down the middle once connec ted. Try not to coil any twin- lead cables and keep the m away from A/V cable s as much as possible.
Never insert objects of any kind into a ny openings in the DIR ECTV Receiver (other t han the DIREC TV® Access C ard as detailed in t his manual).
Place it on a flat, hard surface — do not operat e the DIRECTV R eceiver on a carpet or othe r padded surface.
Always unplug your DIRECT V Receiver before moving it .
Always unplug the DIRECT V Receiver, TV and other e quipment before you connect or dis connect any cables.
Leave the main power connector acc essible to the main conne ctor at the back of the unit in c ase of emergency shutdown .
CAUTION: Electric Shock — never attempt to d isassemble the DIR ECTV Receiver you rself; always t ake it to a qualified ser vice person when repa ir is required.
Opening or removing covers m ay expose dangerou s voltage or other risks, a nd incorrect reass embly can cause shock w hen receiver is subsequently u sed. Attempted
self-repair may also void y our warranty. Chang es or modifications not ex pressly approved by the par ty responsible for complia nce (by the warrant y or by the
manufacturer) could v oid the user’s authority to operate t he equipment.
Do not drop your DIRECTV Recei ver and always move it with ca re.
Have your DIRECTV Receiver prof essionally serv iced (do not attempt to service it you rself).
Any changes or modifications i n construction of th is device which are not e xpressly approved by the par ty responsible for complia nce could void the user’s authorit y to
operate the equipment.
