Appendix B

Installing Options

This appendix describes how you install optional devices on your LT-286e. You can install an external monitor, an external diskette drive, an internal modem, an internal 1MB memory card, and an external keyboard. You can also install a %-size, IBM AT-compatible expansion card and a math coprocessor.

Connecting an External Color Monitor

If you plan to use an external monitor with your Equity LT-286e, follow the instructions below to connect it to the computer:

1.Be sure both the computer and monitor (as well as any other peripheral devices) are turned off.

2.Turn the computer upside down and set the CRT/LCD slide switch to CRT. This slide switch setting lets the computer know you will be using a monitor instead of the LCD screen. (See “Setting the Slide Switches” in Appendix A for details.)

3.Turn the computer right side up with the front facing you.4.Place your monitor near the Equity LT-286e.

5.If necessary, connect the monitor cable to the monitor. (Some monitors come with permanently attached cables.)

6.Lower the interface cover on the right side of the computer.
