Modem

A device that allows a computer to send or receive data over a telephone line.

Monitor

The screen of a CRT.

Motherboard

The main circuit board of your computer. Also called the system board.

MS-DOS

An operating system from Microsoft that comes with your computer. See Operating system.

NiCad

The type of battery used by your Equity LT-286e. NiCad stands for nickel-cadmium.

Numeric keypad

The number keys grouped on the upper, right side of the keyboard.

Operating speed

The speed at which the CPU can execute commands. The Equity LT-286e has operating speeds of 8 MHz and 12 MHz. Also called execution speed or clock speed.
