1.4.7 Never operate the mower with damaged guards, shields, or covers. Always
have safety shields, g uar ds, switches, and ot her devices in place and in proper
working condit ion.
1.4.8 DO NOT change the engine governor settings or overspeed t he engine. Operating
an engine at excessive speed may increase the hazard of personal injury.
1.4.9 Disengage PTO bef or e starting engine.
1.4.10 Start the engine carefully with feet well away from the blades.
1.4.11 Keep hands, f eet , and clothing away from rotating par t s while the mower is being
operated.
1.4.12 Stop engine, wait for all moving parts to stop, and r em o ve k ey:
Befor e checking, cleaning or work ing on the mower.
Aft er st riking a foreign object (inspect the mower f or damage and make
repairs before restarting and operating the mower).
Befor e clear ing blockag es.
Whenever you leave the mower.
Stop the eng ine and wait for all moving parts to stop:
Before refueling.
Befor e dum ping the grass cat c her .
1.4.13 Befor e st opping the engine, place t he throttle contr ol midway between the “slow”
and “f ast ” positions. Allow the engine to run a m inim um of 15 seconds; then st op
the engine.
1.4.14 The fuel system is provided with a shut-off valve. Shut off the f uel:
When the m a chine will not be used for a few days.
During tr anspor t to and fr om the job.
When parked inside a building.
1.4.15 This mower was designed f or one oper ator only. Keep all others away from
mower during oper at ion.
1.4.16 Do Not mow with the grass catcher door or the grass cat cher r aised, removed or
altered.
1.4.17 Do Not operate m ower under t he influence of alcohol or dr ugs.
1.4.18 Use extra care when approaching blind corners, shrubs, trees, or other objects
that may obscure vision.
1.4.19 If jump starting is required:
a) connect the positive (+) power cable from t he posit ive post on t he booster
battery to t he posit ive ter m inal post on the starter solenoid switch (t his post
has the positive batter y cable att ached to it).
b) connect the negative or gr ound cable (-) f r om the negative post on the
booster batt er y to t he engine block as far away from the battery as possible.
c) disconnect batter y cables in the reverse or der after st ar t ing.
1.5 MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
1.5.1 For engine maintenance, follow the engine manufacturer’s recommendations
precisely as stated in the engine manual.
1.5.2 Disconnect the batter y cable from the neg at ive batt e r y post when the unit will be
allowed to sit for m or e t han 30 days without use.
