Backgrounder

Printing documents with the FARGO driver normally takes place in the Òforeground;Ó therefore, the computer cannot do any other work until the print is complete. Processing the print in the Òbackground,Ó allows the computer to do other work for you at the same time in the foreground.

The FARGO driver provides a background printing facility via the FARGO Backgrounder. The FARGO Backgrounder is an application program which is included on your PrimeraPro driver diskette. Once the Backgrounder is installed, it enables you to process print jobs in the background while you continue with other work in the foreground. If you print several documents at a time, Backgrounder queues them up and processes them in order. The number of print jobs running within Backgrounder is limited only by the available space on your hard disk.

FARGO Backgrounder System Requirements

The FARGO Backgrounder has the same System requirements as the FARGO driver. In addition, however:

To print documents in the background, the Macintosh must be using MultiFinder or System 7. FARGO Backgrounder can also be used for batch printing, which does not require MultiFinder. Refer to page 57 in this manual for more information about batch printing.

Your System may require more memory when using MultiFinder, depending on which applications you use.

More hard disk space may be needed to hold documents that are waiting to be processed by Backgrounder.

The Backgrounder is installed by selecting the Install Backgrounder option from within the printer driverÕs installer program. This option is pre-selected when you first install the printer driver. Therefore, if you did not deselect the Backgrounder option when installing the printer driver, it is most likely already installed. The Backgrounder installs into the Extensions folder of your startup drive. If you cannot locate Backgrounder, simply go through the printer driver installation procedure described in Section 7-B making sure that the Install Backgrounder option is selected. Once installed, Backgrounder will
