My prints have ÒblotchesÓ (small voids) in them.

Print quality overall is not good.

Symptoms: small spots on the print with no ink or different colors of ink.

Most likely due to dust inside the printer. Review the procedures in Section 10 for cleaning the inside of the printer. Also, be sure the Ribbon Cartridge is clean and free of any dust particles.

Defective ribbon. Check to see that ink is not missing on an unused part of the ribbon. If it is, replace ribbon.

Symptoms: poor or faded print quality over the entire sheet of paper or transparency.

Be sure you have the appropriate supplies installed. Do not use dye-sublimation ribbon or paper if you have a wax thermal transfer print option selected in your printer driver setup, or vice versa. Both the dye-sublimation option and the wax thermal transfer option require their own separate and specific set of supplies. Dye- sublimation ribbon and paper come packaged together and can only be used for dye- sublimation printing. The dye-sublimation ribbon is distinguished by its plastic cores, and the dye-sublimation paper is distinguished by its white, glossy finish. The wax thermal transfer ribbon is distinguished by its cardboard cores and can be used in conjunction with any smooth surfaced paper.

Paper is upside down. Most papers have a good and bad print side. Be certain that you are loading paper with the print side facing down. On the dye-sublimation paper, the printable side of the paper is the white, glossy side; this side of the dye-sublimation paper should be facing down when inserted into the printer.

Paper is not of a good enough quality; use a smooth, non-porous paper stock for wax thermal printing. Change to a smoother, shinier paper or purchase FARGO-brand wax thermal paper designed especially for PrimeraPro.

Print head could be very dirty. Review the procedures in Section 10 for print head cleaning.

Not enough heat (or too much heat) to properly transfer ink. Adjust the Intensity control in PrimeraProÕs printer driver up or down.
