Chapter 4
Analyzing and Enhancing Images
Setting Emissivity and BackgroundTemperatureSetting your camera with correct emissivity and background temperature values is critical to making accurate temperature measurements.
Emissivity values on your camera and saved images are adjustable between
0.01and 1.00 with increments of 0.01. This value, along with the background temperature and target radiation measured by the camera, is used to calculate target temperatures. Use the table in Appendix C, which lists the emissivity values of some common materials, as a guide to setting correct emissivity values.
To set the emissivity value for an image in the camera:
1.Use the MOUSE controller to position the pointer over the emissivity value on the task bar and tap E. (See Chapter 2 for emissivity value location on the task bar.)
2.Use the up/down MOUSE action to raise or lower the value.
3.Tap the TRIGGER button to accept setting change and return to the open image.
4.Tap the TRIGGER button again to return to scan target mode.
