Back of the Switch
RPS and EPS Input Port
The 3500, 3500yl and 6200yl switches support connectivity to a redundant power supply. The “ProCurve 620 Redundant and External Power Supply (RPS/EPS) is an accessory product for these Switches. The RPS/EPS provides redundant and additional PoE power to the switch products to back up the power supply in the switch in case of loss of AC or PoE power. Or, if maximum PoE power is being used on all 48 ports, a 620 RPS/EPS will be necessary to provide full power to the second 24 ports, and in this case, there would be no redundancy.
Console Port
This port is used to connect a console to the switch by using the serial cable supplied with the switch. This connection is described under “10. Connect a Console to the Switch (Optional)” on page 20 in chapter 2, “Installing the Switch.” The console can be a PC or workstation running a
