Figure 57 The influence of logging level and catalog protection on IDB growth

Logging level as an IDB key tunable parameter

What is logging level?

Logging level determines the amount of details about backed up files and directories written to the IDB. You can always restore your data, regardless of the logging level used during backup.

Data Protector provides four logging levels that control the amount of details about files and directories written to the IDB:

Log All

Logs all detailed information about backed up files and directories

(names, versions, and attributes).

Log Files

Logs all detailed information about backed up files and directories

(names and versions). This represents approximately 30% of all

detailed information about backed up files and directories.
