Determining SCSI Bus Length

Ultra, Wide, Single-Ended SCSI Bus Length

Follow these instructions to calculate your total bus length for the ultra, wide, single -ended SCSI bus on your system, using Table 26.

1List all of your internal Ultra, Wide SCSI devices in the first column.

2In the third column, write the lengths of the internal Ultra, Wide SCSI bus that correspond to your devices.

3In the fourth column, write down the lengths of the Ultra, Wide SCSI intercon- nect cables you are using for your installation. (Cable lengths are listed in subsec- tion “Cables” in the section on “SCSI Restrictions.”)

4Add all of the numbers in the third column and write the sum on the subtotal line at the bottom of the column. Do the same for the fourth column.

5Add the subtotals together and write the total on the Total Ultra, Wide SCSI Bus Length line.

NOTICE:The total length of the Ultra, Wide, Single-ended SCSI bus must not exceed 3 meters (9.84 feet). If the number you write for Total Ultra, Wide SCSI Bus Length is greater than 3 meters, try configuring your installation with shorter cables.
