The carriage return, line feed characters are not added to hexadecimal data. Ifyou type data before pressing the function key, the hexadecimal data is added tothe typed data and sent to the remote system. This allows you to type acharacter that is not on the 5250 keyboard (for example, square brackets).Hexadecimal data is entered by typing X followed by a quoted string ofhexadecimal characters, for example, X'1A1A'. The hexadecimal data is notmapped before being transmitted to the remote system.vLocal AS/400 control functions. Youcan assign a keyword to be handledlocally within the AS/400 Telnetclient session. These assignments or mappingsmay not result in ASCII data stream trafficbeing sent to the remote Telnet serversession. These local control functions are *HIDE, *SHIFTDSP,*KEYPRI, and*KEYALT. The *SENDWOCR function is a local function, but ASCII data streamsare sent to the remote Telnetserver session.Figure 116shows the VT100 keyboard. Figure 117 on page 174 shows the VT220keyboard. Table10 on page 174 shows the valid control codes that are sent. TheCTRL key is used in conjunction with other keys on the keyboard to generatecontrol codes.
