Chapter 6. Con®guring DB2 Connect to Host or AS/400 Communications Using the CCA

This section describes how to use the Client Con®guration Assistant (CCA) to con®gure your DB2 Connect workstation to access host or AS/400 DB2 databases. The con®guration steps described in this section apply if you are connecting to the host or AS/400 system using TCP/IP or SNA (APPC).

The CCA cannot auto-detect or con®gure the following SNA (APPC) subsystems:

vIBM eNetwork Communications Server

vCommunications Server for Windows NT SNA API Client

vMicrosoft SNA Server for Windows NT

To complete the steps in this section, you should be familiar with how to start the CCA. For more information, see ªStarting the Client Con®guration Assistantº on page 133.

To con®gure communications to a non-host or AS/400 based DB2 database, go to ªChapter 9. Con®guring Client-to-Server Communications Using the Client Con®guration Assistantº on page 105.

To con®gure communications to a host or AS/400 DB2 database using the command line processor, or if an SNA product cannot be con®gured by the CCA, go to the section that describes the communications protocol that you want to con®gure:

vTCP/IP - refer to the Installation and Con®guration Supplement online document.

vAPPC - see ªChapter 7. Con®guring APPC Communications on the DB2 Connect Workstationº on page 67.

With the CCA, you can:

vCon®gure database connections that applications can use.

vUpdate or delete existing con®gured database connections.

vDisplay the information for existing con®gured connections.

vTest a connection to a database.

vEnable or disable databases to be con®gured as CLI or ODBC data sources.

vExport client pro®les, or import client and server pro®les which contain information for the setup of a client.

vUpdate client con®guration settings.

vDiscover remote databases (if enabled).

vBind user applications and utilities to databases.
