Use the following procedure as a guide for com lems.

Note: The diagnostic tests are intended to test products. Non-IBM products, prototype cards, modified options can give false errors and system responses.

1.Obtain the failing symptoms in as much detail sible.

2.Verify the symptoms by attempting to recrea failure by running the diagnostic test or by the same operation.

Testing the computer

The ThinkPad computer has a test program called PC-Doctor DOS (hereafter PC-calledDoctor). You can detect errors by running the diagnostics test of This section is an overview on detecting the prob Refer to “Product overview” on page 44 for deta depend on model-unique functions.

To

run the

test, do

1.Insert the PC-Doctor DOS Disk into the diskett then power on the computer.

If the computer cannot be powered on, go to systems checkout” on page 30 and check the p sources.

If an error code appears, go to “Symptom-to-FR Index” on page 33.

The PC-Doctor main panel appears.

2.SelectDiagnostics with the arrow keys, and pres Enter .

A pull-down menu appears:

3.Run the applicable function test.

4.Follow the instructions on the screen. If the

problem, PC-Doctor shows some messages.

5.Reseat the cable or connector of the detec and run the test again.

If the error recurs, replace the FRU that error.
