Problems on Start–up

Why doesn't the power switch function?

"Confirm that the power cord is connected properly.

"Connect another electrical device to the power outlet in order to confirm that power is live from the outlet.

"Check that the batteries are not fully discharged; con￿ nect the pen computer to an electrical outlet.

Why doesn't Windows start?

"Check to see if the external floppy disk drive/port ex￿ pander contains a non-system disk. Remove the floppy disk from the drive and press any key.

"If booting from an external floppy disk drive, check to make sure the floppy disk is fully inserted into the drive.

"Check to make sure the floppy is setup as the first boot device in the setup menu.

"Confirm that the system files have not been deleted from the hard disk.

"Depending on the state that the pen computer is in, the power button might not function. In that case, use the RESET switch on the bottom of the pen computer to turn off the power.

Why do I get a non-system disk or disk error message?

"There may be a non-bootable disk in the external floppy disk drive/port expander (either a defective disk or one without an operating system). Remove the disk.

"If the message appears when you try to boot from the hard drive, insert a bootable disk into the external floppy disk drive/port expander and check the status of your hard disk drive.

"Check whether the items Diskette A: or Hard Disk

Type: are set up correctly in the Main section of the setup utility.
