NOZZLE&VENTURI

Aclean nozzleandventuri(FIG. 10)is a must forthe
softenertoworkright.This small unitmovesbrine
fromthesaltstoragetanktotheresintankduring
regeneration.If itbecomespluggedwithsand,silt,
dirt,etc., thesoftenerwill not workandyouwill get
hardwater.
Togettothenozzleandventuri,removethesoftener
topcover.Besurethesoftenerisinservicecycle(no
waterpressureatnozzleandventuri),thenturnoff
thecapfromthenozzleandventurihousing.Donot
losethelargeo-ringseal.Lift outthescreensupportand
screen,thenthenozzleandventuri.Washandrinse
thepartsinwarm wateruntil clean.If needed,usea
small brushtoremoveironordirt.Alsocheckand
cleanthegasket.
Carefullyreplaceall partsinthecorrectorder.
Lubricatetheo-ringsealwithsiliconegreaseor
Vaselineand placeinposition.Install andtighten
thecap,byhand only.Donotovertightenand
breakthecaporhousing.

IRON FROMTHERESIN BED

Yourwatersoftenertakeshardness minerals(cal-
ciumandmagnesium)outof thewater.Also,itcan
controlsome“clearwater”iron.See maximum
allowedinthespecificationsonpage20.Withclear
wateriron,waterfromafaucetisclearwhenfirstput
intoaglass.After15 to30 minutes,thewaterbegins
tocloud orturnrustcolored.AwatersoftenerWILL
NOTremoveanyironwhichmakesthewatercloudy
or rustyas itcomesfromthefaucet (calledredwater
iron).Totakeredwaterironoutofwater,oroverthe
maximumofclearwateriron,anironfilterorother
equipmentisneeded.YourlocalSears storehas
trainedpeopletohelpyouwithironwaterproblems.
If yourwatersupplyhas clearwateriron,even
thoughless thanthemaximumallowed,regular
resinbedcleaningisneeded.Searshas resinbed
cleaner,ItemNo.42-34426 forthis.Cleanthebedat
leastevery6months.If ironshowsup inthesoft
waterbefore6months,cleanmoreoften.Printed
