andyouwon’thavetocallandwait forservice.If you donot findanythingwrong,whilemakingthechecks,

andyoursoftenerstill doesnot work,call yourSearsServiceDepartment.

Nosoft waterNosalt(orsaltbridged)inthe storagetankRefill withsalt, orbreakthe saltbridge (page
16).Press ON/OFF-HOLD(RECHARGE
NOW)button and holdfor3secondstostarta
regeneration (see page 10).
Transfomerunplugged at the wall outlet,
orpowercableleadsloose, fuse blown,
circuitbreakerpopped,orcircuitswitched
off.
Check forloss ofpowerdue to anyof these
and correct. Withthe powerback on,lookat
the time displayand read PROGRAM
MEMORY,page12.
Manualbypassvalve(s)in bypass position LookatFIG. 12 on page 20.Movethe stemin
asinglevalvetoservice. In a 3-valve bypass,
openthe inletand outletvalves,and be sureto
fully closethe bypass valve.
Dirty,plugged ordamaged nozzle&
venturiTake apartand clean or replace damaged
parts(see page 17).
Valve drain hose plugged The drain hosemustnothavekinks,sharp
bends,orbe raised too high abovethe
softener (see page 16 inyourinstallation

Using hotwaterwhen softeneris
regenerating Avoidusing hotwaterduring thistime because
the waterheater refillswith hardwater (see
AutomaticBypass,page 15).
Increaseinthe grainsofhardness inyour
watersupplyAskyourSearsretail orcatalog storefora new
wateranalysis.Then make a newhardness
numbersetting (page 7).
