5B.ROTARY VALVE SERVICE
Beforeworkingonthevalve,turnoff thewater
supplyanddisconnectfromelectricalpower.TO
RELIEVE PRESSURE:
-- 3VALVEBYPASS:Closetheinletvalveandopena
soft waterfaucet.Thenclosetheoutletvalveand
openthebypass valve.
-- SEARS SPECIAL BYPASS:Slidethebypass valve
stemto bypass position.Loosen3hexheadscrews
towardthebacksideof thevalvetoallowpressure
waterto bleedout.Catchwaterwitharag.

DISASSEMBLY

Toremoveapartorgroupofparts,refertothevalve
drawing.Acommonscrewdriverornutdriver,
Phillips screwdriverand pliers aretheonlytools
neededtocompletelydisassemble.

SERVICING THE VALVE

Inspectall o-rings,seals andgasketsforwearor
defects.
Inspect thebottomsurfaceof therotorforscratches,
chipsorwear.
NOTE:If replacementisneeded,besuretousethe
currentreplacementpart.

ASSEMBLY

Besureall parts areinplaceandintheproper
position.LubricateALL o-rings andsealswithFDA
approvedsiliconegrease.Toinstall therotorseal,
firstplacetheseal intothevalvegroove,rounded
sidedown(see cross-section).Applyalightcoating
ofsiliconegreasetothesealscrossingribs.Then,
carefullycenterthewearstripontheseal,andpushit
downwardontotheseal.
Install thenozzleandventurisealand drainseal.
Assemblewavewasherbearing,thewavewasher,
and2o-ringsontotherotortopshaft.Thencenterthe
rotorinthevalvebody,ontherotorseal.
Lowerthecoverontothevalvebodyandrotorshaft.
Theninstall thecoverholdingscrews.Beforetight-
eningthescrews,install thevalvecamandgear.
Then,turntherotor(clockwiseonly) toservice
position.Tightenthescrewsusingacriss-cross
pattern.If atorquewrenchis available,torqueto
30-40 inchpounds.
