Installing the AcrylicCover

TheKPS25scis equippedwith an acrylic cover that protects the integrity of compactdisc data. The user can customize the cover's operation and closing speed. See Customizing Configu- rations, on page27.

IMPORTANTmUSER PRECAUTION

Please read the following USERPRECAU- TIONbefore attemptingto install the acrylic cover.

The KPS25sc acrylic cover is mechanically dampedto ensure smoothoperation while clos- ing. If youforce the coverto close, youwill dam- age the cover and the damping assembly. Duringoperation, pleasedo not force the cover to close faster than the dampingmechanism allows.

ATTACHINGTHE ACRYLIC COVER

To attach the acrylic cover, follow the steps describedbelowandfurther illustrated in Figure 1 on page7.

IMPORTANT

Attach the acrylic cover before connectingthe flex foil cable.

1.Carefully removethe acrylic cover from the velvet pouchand place the cover on a soft surface.

2.Locatethe two push-pull pins (A) just above the KPS25sc back panel. These pins are shipped in the fully closed position (see detail A.1). Pull the pins out until they are fully extended,as shownin detail A.2.

3.Locatethe pins (B) at the baseof the acrylic cover and the notches (C) on top of the KPS25sc, abovethe push-pull pins (A).

4.With the acrylic cover perpendicular to the KPS25sc, align the acrylic cover pins (B) with the notches (C) in the top of the KPS25sc.

5.Gently lower the acrylic cover into the notches (C), positioning the acrylic cover pins (B) in the notches(C) in the top of KPS25sc.

IMPORTANT

Makesure that the flex foil cable (D) attached to the cover is not pinched or crimpedas you position andsecurethe acrylic cover.

6.Push the push-pull pins (A) back in securethe cover. Seedetail A.1 for correct pin position.

IMPORTANT

TheKPS25sc is shippedfrom the factory with the cover push-pull pins fully closed. Push-pull pins are fully extendedonly duringcover instal- lation and must be closed whenoperating the acrylic cover.

Donot try to close the acrylic coverat this time. Connectthe flex foil cablefirst.

Youcan customizethe acrylic cover to be clear or opaque,andto close at varying speeds.See Adjusting the CoverClosing Speed, on page 10, and Customizing Configurations, on page27.
